Western Movie Tours was created around one simple idea: visiting a famous filming location is already exciting, but understanding what happened expands and enhances the way you’ll see those movies forever.
Our private Western movie tours take you into some of the great Western film locations of the American West, from John Ford's Monument Valley to the historic movie sets and towns of Southern Arizona and the spectacular red-rock country around Moab. But finding the locations is only the beginning.
Imagine yourself standing where actors stood, recreating memorable moments from favorite Westerns and seeing some of the landscapes, streets and buildings that appeared on screen for yourself. Then we'll go further, exploring how directors used those locations, where cameras were placed, how scenes were blocked, what actors brought to their performances and why the finished scene works the way it does.

Anyone can visit famous Western film locations by themselves – that’s precisely why Western Movie Tours offers something very different.
Your guide is a working film director with decades of experience in filmmaking, photography, history and tourism. Instead of simply telling you that a scene was filmed somewhere, he can take you inside the creative decisions that transformed a place into the scene you remember and show you the details that almost everyone else who visits the location will miss!
Western Movie Tours are deliberately small and personal. Our private full-day experiences are designed primarily for couples, friends and small groups. You have plenty of time to discuss the film/s you're interested in rather, and there is no written and memorized commentary to a busload of strangers.
You will ask questions, stop for photographs, look more closely at a set, talk about a performance you loved, recreate a favorite shot and spend time inside scenes you've watched fifty times. In some areas you may get special access not permitted to the public.
